The wife and I went down to the newly opened St. Petersburg Pier on Thursday for a little photo walk and to catch the (almost) full moon rise.
The plan was to scout locations for the next full moon. I’m trying to do the the whole lens compression thing with the moon and the building at the end of the pier. I knew it would be too dark Thursday to really pull this off, and a cloudy horizon was the final nail in the coffin for making that happen. But I did get to see how things lined up and got a better idea of how far back I need to shoot from.
When the next full moon comes around, I’ll be ready. But even before then, I’ll be stopping by to get some shots of the crescent moon rising behind The Pier during the day.
And I’ll get some sunrises, too. Should be fun trying to get all these shots over the next month.
Back to Thursday’s trip. It wasn’t a total bust. We had a nice stroll. I took some pictures. We then sat on a little beach for a hour and waited for the moon. I can’t complain.
