Bringing kinja into focus, one frame at a time

Seeking Advice: Full-Frame Transition

I’ve had a D7100 for a few years now. It’s served me well, but I’m not a huge fan of DX. I recently acquired some film for the F100 (which I love dearly) and it’s got me considering a transition to full-frame/FX digital.

Presently considering a used D600 for about $550. It’s more camera than I’ll ever need but it’s a cost-effective way to get into FX with a somewhat modern body. I think ideally I’d want a Nikon Df, but those are way out of budget.

This transition would mean selling the DX kit lens (18-140mm) with the D7100 as it is borderline useless for FX. If this is the case, I’d be left with a 50mm f/1.4 for the D600 and F100. Currently considering a 135mm f/2.8 Ai-S or a 180mm f/2.8 ED Ai-S to supplement and possibly rounding out the set in the future with a wide angle prime.

What’s your two cents? I’m happy to hear.
