Over the weekend, a friend’s mother was out walking her dogs and was hit by a car. She’s ok. Apparently some fractured ribs and pelvis. But she’s ok, still up and around and insisting on sweeping up their back patio.
One of her dogs was more seriously injured, but is doing better than expected. Almost $7,000 (so far), spleen and a kidney removed, plus all sorts of bumps, lumps, and whatnot that come from being hit by car. But the doggo is doing well and recovering.
The driver turned himself into the police yesterday, which is a good thing.
In the meantime, the family is trying to fund raise to cover the cost of the surgery and care for the poor doggo. I went over the other to photograph orchids belonging to my friend’s mom. Prints will be offered as a pledge gift once the fund raiser gets off the ground. The person who started (or tried to start) a GoFundMe page got in way over their head so the family are starting over with a new one.
Anyway... These are the orchid pics. I shot them with the 28-85mm’s macro setting. I was planning to go over to take pictures of them for myself but then the accident happened. We thought this would be a good use for them.
I don’t plan on posting these on social media or anything until they figure out how they want to do the fund raising, but they are too good to not share with here with our small circle of photographers. I hope they bring a little brightness to your social distanced and quarantined lives.
Unrelated to the orchids, but stuff that’s happening in these crazy times... I had two photos I’m really proud of get accepted into a gallery show. But that show is likely going to be postponed or just canceled all together. But, someone bought four different prints from me the other night. So, fuck yeah! Weird times.
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy but is still taking pictures to stay sane.
