My brother loaned me his Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 lens to experiment with, since I'm in the market for such a lens. This is a full-frame lens shooting on an APS-C body (Canon 40D). I'm going to have to figure out how to come up with the cash to get one of these lenses for myself.

I've been focusing on getting the latest Tamron 70-200 ($1400), but this Sigma has a lot going for it. It does not, however, have image stabilizing. I'm trying to decide if I'll need to spend the extra money for it. More experimentation is called for.

The sharpness of this shot is far beyond anything I've experienced on my less expensive Tamron 18-270. I'm looking forward to getting out to the airport on Thursday morning. Aviation photography is my primary hobby.
