Driving out in the Texas countryside on back roads near the little town of Merkel, I came across this field with a lone cow in it. So I pulled over and squeezed off a couple shots. There's a lot of brown out that way, since most of the cotton has recently been harvested. But this green field really stood out, and I liked the light. You can see some windmills just over the horizon. There are thousands of them on the high ground out west of Abilene. One of these days I'll do a photo essay on them. It's really staggering how many they've built. It's hard to imagine what the countryside looked like before.
