Just ordered this last night. Nikon 75-300mm AF, circa 1989. It’ll be perfect for the Nikon 8008S, and will serve me well in the digital realm, too.
It’s a banger of a zoom lens. Outstanding optics. I’ll give me some serious reach when shooting film. On the current cropped sensor DSLR, it’ll get me the equivalent of 450mm. No VR, but that’s fine as it’ll be on a tripod a lot when using it (moon pics and daytime rocket launches). And I somehow have a very steady hand, so it’ll be fine when shooting hand-held with it.
Most people importantly, this lens (and the 24-85mm) will still autofocus on whatever full-frame body I upgraded to. I’ll have very useable (and very good) lenses to get the party started until I can buy some newer glass with VR and such. It should be here in a week or so. Exciting times.
Here’s some info on the lens:
Now I can start saving for that full-frame body again.
