FYI - This post contains 55 pictures. You have been warned. Enjoy.

We have an annual vintage car show here in St. Petersburg. I hit it up on Sunday. It’s your typical vintage show in that it has a little bit of everything. I hardly bother trying to take pictures of entire cars at these things. Too many people in the way. The car owners sometimes have signs and awards on or around their show car. It just a mess to shoot.

So I concentrate on the little stuff. Badges, hood ornaments, and other details. So if you like badge-porn, this is the post for you.

Obviously not a vintage car. A dealership who sponsors the event brought this beauty out.

And that’s it. I have no idea what’s going on with that black Beetle. The owner was nowhere to be found. All I know is that I really want to go for a ride in it. I have a suspicion that it’s hella fun.

UPDATE: I found the owner of the Beetle. It took all of sixteen minutes from posting the pic to get a response from them. Turns out I already knew who the owner was without knowing it. Ha! I don’t know him, but have met him and have several friends that are very tight with him. The car is in fact a Porsche-powered Beetle, air-cooled at that, though I don’t know exactly what is back there yet. After he returns from the Rolex 24, we are going to set up a time for me to shoot the car (in a better setting than a car show) as well as a Porsche-powered VW microbus that he’s got. Should be fun. Maybe I’ll get to take her for a spin around the block, or at least be a passenger. Hopefully we’ll make this happen early February.
