Bringing kinja into focus, one frame at a time

And I'm Back!

Hey hey! Been busy. Family stuff. Florida stuff. Stuff stuff. I haven’t been intentionally ignoring y’all.

So first my sister came to visit. It was her first trip back to Florida in 16 years! I tried to take this picture of us jumping off the green transformer box outside our mom’s house. It was the hangout spot back in the day. That rust on the top edge is from grinding and sliding across it back in my skater days. The whole top is covered in scratched graffiti from the late 80s to early 90s. We even set it on fire once (probably not the smartest thing to do considering it powers most of the block). So I thought this would be an awesome picture. Sadly, the camera’s auto focus jumped as I was locking the focus in place, which went unnoticed until it was too late to do it again. So we’re a little fuzzy and the background is nice and crisp. Oh well. We’ll try again next time, hopefully not another 16 years.

My sister came as my mom has been sick. She’s doing much better now, but still has a few things, medically, to take care of in the coming months. But she’ll be fine. She absolutely hates her picture being taken. I tried to sneak one, but got the definitive mom picture instead.

She’s like a ninja with that hand to block a photo. I thought I was being super covert. She was having none of it and saw it coming before I even thought about pressing the shutter button.

We also had a hurricane scare. We were never in any real danger over here, but it could have caused massive devastation and disruptions across the state. I did take the opportunity to head over to the beach for a few sunsets. I was hoping for some more fast moving clouds from the edge of the storm, but I don’t control the weather. I got some nice pics over the course of two trips to the crumbling Redington Long Pier.

I also did some slow panning on the tripod and had a little fun while editing.

I’ve been itching to get out to do some abstract stuff but we’ve had heat advisories just about everyday, so going outside sucks. The “feels like” temps have been 100 to 110 or so with a million percent humidity. We’ll see what the next week or brings.

How have y’all been? I’ll catch up on all the posts I missed tomorrow.
