Please excuse this plea, but a photographer friend needs help. Christopher Oates is an amazing street photographer in New York. I feel so awkward shooting people, especially strangers out in the world, but when I do, I credit him for pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone and to shoot better.
His Sony camera took a crap after just nine months and Sony is refusing to honor their warranty. Rather than sink money in to fixing it, only to have it break again, he needs a new camera. Due to various circumstances in his personal life, he can’t just run out and buy what he needs. You can read a little about it on his GoFundMe page.
If you happen to have an extra $20 or whatever laying around and feel like spending it on a good cause, please consider helping him out. I know we’re not all made of money, but if you can help, it’s a good and noble cause. If you can’t or don’t care to give, that’a cool. It never hurts to ask. Maybe you can share his GoFundMe page on another forum or on Facebook? You don’t have to, but it never hurts to ask.
Heck, maybe you happen to have a Canon with a full frame sensor laying around that you’re looking to sell. Drop him a line, he might be interested in taking it off your hands.
If you are interested in seeing more of his work, start with one of his Instagram accounts:
If you can help or spread the word, thank you. If not, that’s fine. I’m just trying to help out a friend.
