Finally got my Audi S7 pictures back. Some of them are really murky. I’m not sure if it’s because of the scanner (I tried a new development place for these) or if it’s something about my adaptor. Allow me to explain.

First, two examples.

Sharp:

Murky:

Very murky:

All of these were shot with the same Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 I do very much love and cherish, on the same adaptor, on the same camera. Now, my theory.

So I shot these on a ‘90s Canon I got for $5 at a yard sale along with some very lovely hand-painted Japanese espresso cups. It’s a Rebel XS (aka EOS 500, appartently) and it uses the same EF mount as all the other Canon stuff I’ve ever seen.

OR SO I BELIEVE

Apparently Canon’s film backs are different from their digital backs, and the adaptor I have for my M42 screw mount lenses to Canon digital mounts might be wrong for this Canon film mount. This comment on my Instagram account tipped me off.

I’m gonna take the camera over to a better film store (probably Adorama) and see what they think. If it’s not that, I’m gonna have my new development place develop some film I’ve been shooting on my old Spotmatic, and then have my old development place develop some film from this new Canon.

That test would settle things, but your thoughts would be appreciated.

All my shots are in this album here
